WORLD AIDS DAYS
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Every year on 1st December, the world comes together to mark World AIDS Day, a moment to honor those whose lives are affected by HIV, remember those we have lost, and reinforce our shared commitment to end the stigma surrounding the virus. This year's global theme is "Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response". It reminds us that ending AIDS is not just a health issue, but a collective responsibility grounded in compassion, awareness, and community support.
At Optiven Foundation, we believe that every individual deserves dignity, hope and equal opportunity regardless of their health condition.
The Foundation's "Health and Dignity" pillar includes support for health and hygiene-related initiatives, which ties into their broader commitment of supporting those impacted by HIV/AIDS. Through this initiative the Optiven Foundation promotes access to health information that empowers families and communities to make informed decisions. https://www.optiven.co.ke/newsblogs/optiven-team-leader-empowers-students-at-kenyatta-university/
To Learn More about Optiven contact:
In 2022, the Optiven Foundation visited Nairobi West Prison and Kamiti Prison during AIDS Day where they donated sanitary and hygiene items to inmates and warders as part of its support efforts.
Optiven has supported children's homes for orphans affected by HIV/AIDS. For example, they have contributed to Soweto Children's Home in Kayole a home for children abandoned due to HIV or have lost parents to the disease. The home was previously in semi-permanent housing, but with support from Optiven a new home was completed to give the children safer, more stable accommodation. https://www.optivenfoundation.org/news-and-blogs/optiven-foundation-to-unveil-new-home-at-kayole-childrens-home/
