HARE AND TORTOISE INSPIRATION STORY

HARE AND TORTOISE  This is an age old fable of the tortoise and hare race. Everyone knows who won the race or do you? Well, recently I heard a new version of this story with a new twist. Read this inspirational teamwork story with lessons in teamwork from an age old fable. ______________________________________________________________ 1. Once upon a time a tortoise and a hare had an argument about who was faster. They decided to settle the argument with a race. The tortoise and hare both agreed on a route and started off the race. The hare shot ahead and ran briskly for some time. Then seeing that he was far ahead of the tortoise, he thought he’d sit under a tree for some time and relax before continuing the race. He sat under the tree and soon fell asleep. The tortoise plodding on overtook him and soon finished the race, emerging as the undisputed champ. The hare woke up and realised that he’d lost the race. The moral of the story is that slow and steady wins the race. This ...

HOW TO MAKE YOUR WEEK GREAT

Image
7 Tips to Make This A GreatWeek Well, Monday is here again. While this of course means the weekend is over, it also means a new week of unlimited potential lies ahead. The following are 7 ideas that will help you have a happy, productive and meaningful week: 1. Set Goals Ideally, on Sunday (but Monday is ok), I like to take some time out to think about the week ahead. This involves the following: Identifying Roles: identify the key roles in your life. If you haven’t given this much thought before, just write down what immediately comes to mind. Some of my roles, for example, are: father, husband, blogger, employee, and uncle. Selecting Goals: next think of 2 or 3 important things you would like to accomplish in each of these roles in the coming week. For example, as an uncle I need to buy and send presents for my niece and nephew so that they reach USA in time for Christmas day. Scheduling: this basically involves taking the abo...

CONFIDENCE AND GRATITUDE

Image
DURING MY RESEARCH ON HUMAN BEHAVIOR, I REALIZED CONFIDENCE AND GRATITUDE ARE TWINS . Confidence : The feeling or belief that one can have faith in or rely on someone or something.   Gratitude : The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. In my years of studying human behavior and the attainability of self-confidence, I have found that there’s one core value that confidence always always always comes back to: and that’s  gratitude.  Feelings of gratitude and feelings of confidence are directly related. This is because the more grateful you are for all that you have, the more you realize ALL that you have to be grateful for… and more and more awesome things in your life become apparent. The truth – everyone has countless reasons to be thankful. But sometimes it doesn’t feel that way. Maybe you’re having a bad day, a bad week, heck, even a bad year. But regardless of any of that, there is always something to be ...

19 REASONS TO FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS

Image
Facing Gatekeepers It’s not all bad to get the “gatekeeper’s” perspective when you tell them you’re about to follow your dreams. An outside opinion can help put some perspective, but we must be smart and know how to separate constructive criticism from negativity. I’m all in for constructive criticism, but I’m not going to let other people’s negativity stop me from following my dream.   Too many times I’ve experienced this situation. Before setting on my first solo backpacking trip to DRC Congo, I got so much negative feedback about the fact that I was traveling alone to a “dangerous” country and that I was “wasting” the little money I had by going there. I was, and still am too stubborn to let that stop me. When I set my mind to doing something… I do it!   Now, in response to what naysayers, gatekeepers, or anyone might say to keep you from dreaming, I want to share  19 reasons why you should ignore everyone and follow your dreams:   1. ...

THE VALUE OF LIFE....LESSON FROM THE TRIPLETS OF KANAIRO

Image
THE TRIPLETS OF KANAIRO Years back in the land of the mountain lived a great leader.  As the story goes, this great chief had no child of his own and age was catching up with him very fast. One day he consulted the elders of the 'Mugumo Tree ' and was advised to go make a prayer of peace and prosperity by the slopes of the Great Mountain. Few months later the wife conceived and bore him Triplet Sons. Due to age and culture, the great chief had no choice but to subdivide the land into Three Provinces to allow every son have a leadership Unit. The major challenge with the Chief was how will he have the three sons understand the value of life? An idea came to his head one night, and he immediately summoned all the three sons. The Chief had Three Seeds each in a huge Bowl placed in front of him.  A Maize Seed, An Avocado Seed, A Pine Tree Seed. Each son was requested to choose a seed of a tree he loves,  1. One son choose Pine and said he loves pine wood for constructio...

ONE MAN BUILDING CITIES IN KENYA

Image
The Genesis of Pure & Delightful Joy   A story is said of a man who build an entire city single-handedly, what we are not told though in this story is the fact that, the said city was build from a dream, vision, commitment and partnership with the residents. Back in 2018, a dream was born by the slopes of Mua Hills, a few minutes drive from Koma Hills off Kangundo Road and only 1.3km off Koma-Kenol Road. A project, 100 acres huge, sitting by the slopes of Mua hills, facing Lukenya hills at a distance, Koma Hill and Kilima Mbogo at the other horizon, was birthed. The beauty of this project immediately created an awesome feeling, so intense and relaxation, and a name was given, The Garden Of Joy. To some, this was the best news ever, after dreaming for so long to own a place near Nairobi County, a gated Community with all social amenities like water, power, greening, children play areas, recreation centers and even a 24 hours caretaker and security. But as they sa...
