 THE TRIPLETS OF KANAIRO

Years back in the land of the mountain lived a great leader. 

As the story goes, this great chief had no child of his own and age was catching up with him very fast. One day he consulted the elders of the 'Mugumo Tree' and was advised to go make a prayer of peace and prosperity by the slopes of the Great Mountain.

Few months later the wife conceived and bore him Triplet Sons.

Due to age and culture, the great chief had no choice but to subdivide the land into Three Provinces to allow every son have a leadership Unit.

The major challenge with the Chief was how will he have the three sons understand the value of life?






An idea came to his head one night, and he immediately summoned all the three sons.

The Chief had Three Seeds each in a huge Bowl placed in front of him. 

A Maize Seed, An Avocado Seed, A Pine Tree Seed.


Each son was requested to choose a seed of a tree he loves, 

1. One son choose Pine and said he loves pine wood for construction of homes and fences, and for trade.

2. The second son choose the Avocado seed and said avocaoes are good for meals to his family and the society

3. The third son choose the Maize seed and said, maize is for food security to his society.


The dad instructed the sons to go each to his allocated leadership zone and make sure they multiply the seeds to the maximum. They were to meet again after 20 years to come and share their growth and what they have done with the seeds.

Twenty years passed and a huge celebration was called by the Chief who was very old by then. He made an announcement that any of the sons who will come back without a report of what they did with the seed he gave them, he will be dethroned from his leadership.

When the sons came, each had a huge smile and of high spirit, the first son came forward to share his achievements


1. I planted the Pine Seed, after 4 years the pine produced more seeds, i harvested the seeds and planted more pines, ad after four years the young pines produced even more seeds, today i have a small forest with pine wood, totaling to Two Thousand piece.

The Chief was so happy and asked the son how much was the value of the Two Thousand pine trees. The son replied and said if he was to sell it would cost One Hundred Gold coins but he was not ready to sell yet, he wanted to keep multiplying and have a huge forest for his people.








2. The second son said he planted the Avocado seedling, after 2 years the avocado produced avocados, he gave to the community the fruits and requested them to plant the seed. At the time of reporting each homestead and an avocado tree and they had started a huge Avocado Farm to supply to the neighbors.




The Chief asked him the vale of the avocados and the son said if all are harvested they can trade at 50 Gold coins, though he said he was not willing to trade, he wanted to give freely to the neighboring communities.


3. The third son time came and he presented to the dad his achievements, after taking the Maize seed home, he planted it, took care of it, after 4 months he harvested, planted again and gain and again.

As he was reporting he had a huge maize field and was able to feed his people every year.



The chief asked him what would be the value of the maize if ll was harvested at once, the son replied and said it would cost roughly 20 gold coins.

Though, he said, he was not ready to trade, that was food to feed his people and the neighbor.


The Chief was greatly impressed by the three sons.

He then summoned them to the royal throne and told them these few lessons:

1. Your value is not determined by quantity, rather by quality (Pine Seed)

2. Every single day is an opportunity to multiply and become better, from one seed to many many more trees like the Avocado

3. Service to the society, is service to God. We keep thinking of making our society better everyday before thinking of our personal achievements.

4. Patience in life is very important, don't compare yourself with the rest. Just do the best of your part.
